On October 28, 2024, the Canadian government announced a compassionate new immigration pathway for families of the victims of Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752. This initiative demonstrates Canada’s ongoing commitment to supporting those affected by this tragic event and reuniting families.

Eligibility:

The pathway is open to family members of victims who were:

  • Canadian citizens
  • Permanent residents
  • Approved to work or study in Canada at the time of the incident

Application Period:

  • Opens: October 28, 2024
  • Closes: October 27, 2025

This one-year window provides ample time for eligible family members to prepare and submit their applications.

Expanded Eligibility Criteria

This new pathway is particularly significant as it includes family members who were not eligible under previous public policies. The government has worked closely with the Association of Families of Flight PS752 Victims to ensure that this initiative addresses the needs of those most affected.

How to Apply

Detailed application instructions are available on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website. Applicants should carefully review the eligibility criteria and required documentation before submitting their applications.

The introduction of this pathway reaffirms Canada’s commitment to:
